Position Overview
The Quality Assurance Manager will lead and continuously improve linguistic quality practices across translation, localization, transcreation, MTPE, and multilingual content projects.
This role will ensure that deliverables meet client expectations, internal standards, and industry best practices. The QA Manager will also act as the organization’s subject matter expert in linguistic quality, MQM, vendor performance, error analysis, quality reporting, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate combines strong localization experience, linguistic expertise, analytical skills, and knowledge of modern language technologies, including AI-assisted translation and MTPE workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Strategy and Governance
- Develop and maintain quality assurance standards, workflows, KPIs, scorecards, and evaluation methodologies.
- Establish quality governance processes aligned with client requirements and industry best practices.
- Lead root-cause analyses, corrective action plans, and preventive initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve service quality, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and relevant localization quality frameworks.
Quality Reviews and Risk Management
- Conduct linguistic reviews and audits covering accuracy, fluency, consistency, terminology, style, and localization effectiveness.
- Manage the implementation of MQM-based error classification and quality measurement.
- Perform quality risk assessments before and during project execution.
- Analyze recurring issues and recommend corrective actions at the vendor, language, project, or process level.
- Lead quality investigations, client escalations, and improvement plans.
Reporting and Performance Management
- Analyze quality trends across clients, languages, projects, and vendors.
- Develop dashboards, quality reports, and executive summaries.
- Monitor linguist and vendor performance through quality scorecards and rating systems.
- Present recommendations related to process improvement, training, automation, and resource development.
- Communicate quality risks, results, and improvement initiatives to leadership.
AI, Machine Translation, and MTPE
- Define quality standards and acceptance criteria for AI-assisted translation and MTPE workflows.
- Evaluate machine translation output using recognized quality frameworks.
- Monitor MT and MTPE performance and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Support the validation of linguistic data used in neural machine translation, generative AI, and RAG initiatives.
- Collaborate with technology teams on quality automation and AI-enabled localization workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Project Managers to define project-specific quality requirements and address production risks.
- Support Language Leads with terminology, style guides, glossaries, linguistic assets, and complex quality issues.
- Collaborate with Vendor Managers on linguist qualification, onboarding, performance reviews, and development plans.
- Review translation tests and provide recommendations regarding vendor selection and retention.
- Develop and deliver quality training for internal teams and external linguists.
- Evaluate QA tools, CAT tools, TMS platforms, terminology systems, and automated quality solutions.
Requisitos
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Localization, Languages, Communications, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in translation, localization, linguistic QA, or language operations.
- At least two years of experience in QA leadership or quality management.
- Demonstrated experience using MQM for error classification, quality measurement, and risk management.
- Strong understanding of localization workflows and multilingual content production.
- Experience with Translation Management Systems, CAT tools, and linguistic QA platforms.
- Experience developing or implementing quality evaluation systems for human, MTPE, and AI-assisted workflows.
- Experience managing MTPE programs and performance feedback loops.
- Familiarity with linguistic data validation, knowledge bases, RAG, or AI-assisted translation initiatives.
- Strong analytical, reporting, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced English proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing quality programs for global or enterprise localization accounts.
- Familiarity with ISO 17100, MQM 2.0, and other industry quality standards.
- Experience with localization engineering, workflow automation, or AI-enabled translation technologies.
- Experience evaluating Asian, Middle Eastern, or right-to-left languages.
- Proficiency in an additional language.
