Descripción del puesto

The Project Manager runs the cycle of localization projects. This includes managing and delivering all projects to agreed quality standards, client specifications, on time and within budget. While focusing on the process and execution of project delivery, the Project Manager creates production schedules, manages the production process, manages profit margins, contracts with and manages independent contractor resources, and communicates with clients.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage projects scheduled within timeframe and budget constrictions.
  • Review translated materials and edit for sense, accuracy, grammar, style, formatting and consistency.
  • Grow the company’s business through a variety of critical activities, including: estimate preparation, assignment, project management, project issue resolution, quality reviews, and vendor management.
  • Produce reports, correspondence, and other work products which meet the intended objectives, while demonstrating professional competency, quality, and thoroughness.
  • Identify ways to improve quality of delivered projects where possible within timeframe and budget constrictions.
  • Ensure effective communications and relationships between clients and project team members are maintained.
  • Analyze and review files in preparation for estimates.
  • Prepare and format files in preparation for assigning projects to ensure smooth workflow using localization software.
  • Strive to meet high standards by continually improving project management practices.
  • Create proposals and estimates. This includes generic simple estimates, as well as complicated, large estimates (usually in conjunction with the sales team). For large projects, calculation of profit margin and possible discounts is performed.
  • Coordinate the efforts of translators, editors, proofreaders, DTP and graphics staff, reviewers or QA specialists by using process systems and software tools supported by the company.
  • Coordinate and communicate with vendors (translators, editors, proofreaders, desktop publishing professionals) in a variety of disciplines (including, but not limited to, business enterprise and government/non-profit sectors) on assigned projects to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Understand the key issues in achieving timely, cost-effective results, with an awareness of the technical issues and the steps necessary to deliver the appropriate solution.
  • Ensure all quality control procedures and client specifications are followed.
  • Review and finalize all files from linguists prior to client delivery.
  • Assist with client communication. Communication is primarily through email.
  • Negotiate base rates as well as project-specific rates with vendors to ensure profit margin goals are met.
